THE Advertising Standards Authority has upheld a complaint made by Glass's against claims made by arch rival Cap in one of its circulars.
The Cap circular claimed the deputy insurance ombudsman's office placed equal value on used car price data from both Cap and Glass's.
Cap said the DIO's comment came in a letter discussing whether many insurance companies thought the Ombudsman Bureau finds only Glass's valuations to be acceptable.
But Glass's complained that the quote had been taken out of context. The ASA upheld Glass's complaint.
The ASA was told by the DIO that he had neither stated that his office put equal value on the two nor given permission for Cap to quote him. The ASA has asked Cap not to repeat the claim or to quote from letters without first getting the author's permission.
This is the second time this year a complaint against Cap advertising has been upheld.
