A four month study by the Institute of the Motor Industry has revealed “serious shortcomings” in the recruitment and training of vehicle technicians.
The research concluded that manufacturers did not consider technician training a priority and found turnover of technicians among dealers to be 20 – 40 per cent per year. Sarah Sillars, IMI chief executive said the results were “indicative of an industry in crisis”.
